My 12th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition Experience
Philippine International Pyromusical Competition – Pasay City. I have always been a fan of fireworks and watching a show that brings all the best fireworks manufacturers in the world in one seating is a sight that one must experience. The 12th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition is back and this is my second time watching the event (the first one I watched was way back in 2017) and is set to light up Manila Bay from 15 February to 15 March 2025!
Here I am back again covering one of the biggest pyromusical competitions in the world — the 12th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition.

Fireworks have always been part of Philippine culture, especially when there is something to celebrate – be it New Year, a wedding, or a festival celebrating tradition and culture. For my second time, the Philippine International Pyromusical Competition has always been an event I always look forward to watching. It is because the best fireworks manufacturers in the world compete and offer a show that can only be experienced in the Philippines.
We then secured our tickets and seats early to get the best spot for watching and documenting. Good thing I was with my friend Sean and he helped me secure the best spot in the mall grounds. It was just a fine day waiting for the night to sink in and watch the fireworks light up the humid sky.
Unfortunately, with the recent reclamation developments across Manila Bay, the ambiance was a bit different when I watched the opening exhibition. Nonetheless, the show was still to a tee. Every execution and rhythm was just right for the event and the music captured every spectators’ attention. Good thing, too, is that OPM band Lola Amour entertained the audience during the 2-hour pyromusical show.
For the opening exhibition, too, the Philippine delegation was followed by the delegation from AUSTRIA, presented by Steyrfire Feuerwerke. It was a 15-minute act and every light and sound was presented to a tee. Everyone was just clapping and cheering when it was the last minute of the exhibition. It was just a spectacle on its own.
I just hope that the next Philippine International Pyromusical Competitions would feature more fireworks manufacturers so that every part of the world would be represented – it is, after all, a showcase of culture through fireworks and music.
