Badian Canyoneering Adventure
Badian Canyoneering: Of Jumps and Canyons
Out of the 40+ municipalities of Cebu, I am amazed how Badian carved its name into the tourism map of the province. Located in the southwest portion of the island province, Badian’s canyoneering adventure is one of the activities that Cebu is proud of sharing. Its pristine waters, naturally carved stones and adrenaline-inducing jump-offs is one of the nicest I have seen in my quest for #Project81.

First, we were oriented at the entrance to the canyons about the dos and don’ts when experiencing the canyoneering adventure. Our tour coordinator also provided us with safety gear to guide us through the experience. Of course, for the experience, a 45-minute trek took us to the first of many sights that can be seen and experienced in the canyoneering adventure. (You can also ride the zipline if you want to reach the first jump-off faster). The cool rock formations and the cold, clear water greeted us and of course, we would not miss posing for the gram.
As far as I remember, there are at least 4 to 5 jump-off areas in the whole canyoneering adventure in Badian and you really do not have a choice but to jump. Do not worry as the jump off areas are safe and the guide do not let you take your safety gear off while jumping unless you really are an expert in canyoneering. As I am personally afraid of jumping into heights, I am slowly conquering my fear because YOLO! 🙂
The whole canyoneering adventure in Badian will take you to ‘different dimensions’ as each area in the place gives you a different vibe. From interesting water connections of Matutinao River that pass through different types of rocks that has been carved by nature through the ages, you will never run out of spots to take a photo!
Unfortunately, when Typhoon Rai struck Central Philippines in December 2021, the Badian Canyons and the Kawasan Falls were not spared. Up until the writing of this blog (July 2022), we still saw the effects of the typhoon and some parts of the adventure still has debris on it.
Though the natural beauty of Badian is slowly going back into its form, we were happy to visit the place before the influx of tourists would come and visit the place, too. To top our Badian Canyoneering Adventure, we were greeted by the natural beauty of Kawasan Falls. As a waterfalls lover myself, I was just staring at the falls the whole time we were there! Its blueish water color makes the place more interesting and more perfect for the gram.
How to go to Badian, Cebu
From Cebu City, ride a bus (₱ 180.00) or a black taxi (₱ 200.00) in the Cebu South Terminal near City Mall Bacalso / Rizwoods Colleges / Cebu City Medical Center. Travel time going to Badian is approximately 3-4 hours, depending on the traffic. Upon reaching Badian, you can now check-in to your chosen accommodation in the area and explore the municipality or you can also explore the municipality of Moalboal first, too (which is only around 45 minutes away).

We have conquered the canyons of Badian in around 6 hours because we enjoyed jumping in and around the jump-offs and the different swings that can be found in the course. For our tour coordinator, we have tapped C3BV Canyoneering Adventure and they offer one of the best tour packages when exploring Badian and other nearby towns in South Cebu. (You may click on the link to contact them on their Facebook Page) Our package even included a sumptuous lunch after the adventure, and they also shuttled us to and from our accommodation in Moalboal! 🙂
We’re born to travel!
