Baguio Country Club Christmas Village 2016
Baguio Country Club Christmas Village
A Christmas Village is a place where everyone would celebrate the essence of Christmas. At Baguio Country Club, its own version of a Christmas Village is never to be missed in your Baguio travel itinerary!
Christmas in Baguio is always being gone by tourists from the lowlands because temperatures really ‘drop’ to a record low. And fortunately, a “Christmas Village” is also a perfect venue for everyone to experience a ‘different kind of Christmas.’
As the Philippines do not experience snow, Baguio Country Club’s Christmas Village, one of its kind in the country, offers almost everything that a Western Christmas would feel like.
With snow, different kinds of Christmas decorations made from indigenous and recycled materials, matched with a chilly highland climate, together with the warm company of your family or friends – that is the perfect combination of spending Christmas in Baguio Country Club’s Christmas Village.
Gotta Catch ‘em all!
With a different theme annually, this year’s theme is all about “pocket monsters” or more popularly known as Pokémons. Adorned with different kinds of Pokémons spread across the Christmas Village, you will also get to see a living Nativity Scene (which I then became part in 2013). A Nativity pageant would then signal the opening of the Christmas lights and snow machines at night.
This year, too, the Christmas Village features several food kiosks that visitors and locals would surely enjoy while roaming around. There is also a “wishing wall” where kids from age 4 – 12 would write their wish on a piece of card and hang it on a wall.
As Christmas is mainly for kids, the village also has a children’s playground wherein they could enjoy for a minimal fee. If ever feeling cold from that chilly Baguio climate, there is also a bonfire place for people who wish to warm themselves.
After you have seen everything, the cast of the living Nativity would then showcase their talents by dancing several numbers in an hourly interval. Other local talents are also invited to perform on stage to complement your visit to the Baguio Country Club’s Christmas Village.
If you are not much into a crowded place, the village is best visited during the weekdays as only a few visitors go to the area. At peak seasons and weekends, long queues are to be expected but fret not as everyone would be accommodated.
Here are some of the Christmas Village’s guidelines before entering the venue:
