Hotel Review – Hive Hotel

Simple but elegant

Hive Hotel is a hotel that has the advocacy of taking care of the environment. With its earth-friendly facilities and amenities, it surely reduces the hotel’s carbon footprint – one of its kind and the first I have experienced like this so far. Talk about recycled papers for their signages, reduced plastic consumption on their products, and ergonomic designs that maximize the use of every fixture you see around. Its minimalist room and function hall designs add up to the aesthetics of the hotel. Their carpeted flooring also adds comfort and easy mobility.

What you can see and experience

I first experienced staying at Hive Hotel last 9-11 November 2017 when I attended the World Youth Alliance – Asia Pacific Emerging Leaders Conference. What I immediately noticed is the simplicity of its interiors and the warm welcome of their staff. The lobby is well lit and its business center and business lounge is your place to relax whenever you are waiting for something (or someone).

My Brother’s Mustache Folk Bar at The Hive is a laid-back type of bar which opens at night. Featuring local acts, My Brother’s Mustache also is a place where you can unwind, aside from that relaxing stay in your room.

Sky Garden at the 6th floor is The Hive‘s al fresco dining place. This one-of-a-kind in-house restaurant offers food from Europe, America, and Asia. You can enjoy Quezon City’s famed skyline while having your breakfast here! It is also where the jacuzzis are placed in.

Hive Hotel features 5 ergonomically-designed room types which cater to every guests’ needs. I suggest that you book or request a room that has a view of the QC skyline. Their room types are the Deluxe, Deluxe Gardenview (on the 6th floor), Cluster, Super Studio, and the Party Room. (More information can be seen on their website!)

The hotel also has 4 spacious function halls (Aster, Bluebell, Cosmos, and Dandelion) which can accommodate 30 persons or more. And when combined, the 4 function rooms can accommodate up to 200 persons according to the setup. It also has a Board Room on the second floor where you can have a more intimate meeting with your colleagues while staying in the hotel. The Grand Ballroom at the 7th floor can accommodate up to 250 persons and has a generous view of the QC skyline.

If you want to stroll around the area, the hotel is near famous streets such as Tomas Morato and Timog (where there are strips of restaurants and bars along the way), you can also visit ABS-CBN, GMA 7, Scout Circle, Quezon Memorial Circle, and malls such as SM City North EDSA and TriNoma.

The Hive Hotel Lobby at Night | Turista Boy

Hive Hotel is a very affordable and very accessible hotel where you can book a night or two. This hotel is also strategically located in the heart of Quezon City, making it more visible to people looking for a place to stay. What I observed during my stay at The Hive is that their staff are very friendly and the food is good and common, though delicious. Their airconditioning units also cool the room at a slow rate. The corridors are not airconditioned as well.

WiFi connection is good and fast! I also observed that they have a limited underground parking space. It is the first hotel I visited that has an al fresco dining experience at the 6th floor, with a view of the QC skyline. The jacuzzis are also not operational when I stayed there last November and December 2017. The Hive is also easily searchable on apps such as Waze and Google Maps!

I would definitely recommend Hive Hotel to my ‘budgetarian‘ friends who want an affordable and easily accessible hotel in Quezon City!
