Drawing inspiration from the nearby Mount Arayat and Caraballo Mountains of Pampanga, Clark International Airport’s notable façade is like a mountain range mimicking its background, infused with eco-friendly technology aimed to reduce its carbon footprint. The material used for its roofing is glue-laminated (glulam) wood imported from Austria, which gives the airport’s interior a more rustic and natural vibe. The new airport terminal building now has a capacity of 8 million passengers annually, surpassing the old terminal’s capacity at 4.2 million.

The much wider 110,000 square-meter Clark New Terminal Building services several domestic and international routes to decongest the current load of Ninoy Aquino International Airport – with 5,000 square meters allocated for lease for concessionaires.

The Pre-departure Area

With a much wider New Terminal Building, Clark International Airport opened its doors to the public last May 2, 2022. Envisioned as Asia’s new and premier gateway to the Philippines, this state-of-the-art new airport terminal is the pioneer airport terminal in the Philippines with no initial baggage check at its entrances. This means that family members with departing passengers can have much longer stay inside the airport premises before their respective flights.

The new terminal building has 4 x-ray machines before entering the immigration and pre-departure areas. As of this writing, there are 2 operational airport lounges where guests can enjoy before boarding. This is the (1) PAGGS lounge and the (2) Plaza Premium Lounge.

We had the opportunity to see the latter lounge (Plaza Premium) and sir Marion Satumbaga, the lounge’s Commercial Manager, was generous enough to tour us around.
