My Iloilo Dinagyang 2026 Festival Experience
Iloilo Dinagyang 2026 – It is that time again and the Feast of Sto. Niño is once again celebrated all around the Philippines. Notably, this feast is prominently celebrated in the Visayas and Dinagyang Festival is one of them. As it is my third time celebrating Dinagyang, this year’s edition is special to me as I get to celebrate it with friends who share the same passion as I do.

With this year’s theme, “Bugay Sang Ginoo, Bugal sang mga Ilonggo,” Dinagyang 2026 has once again proved to be one of the grandest festivals in the Philippines. With all the graces and blessings wished upon Señor Sto. Niño, Dinagyang is more than just merry-making – it is a celebration of faith. With that, here are the competing 7 competing tribes for the Tribes Competition of Iloilo Dinagyang 2026!
Dinagyang 2026 Tribes Competition
Contingent 1: TRIBU BULAWANON SANG MOLO

Represented by the whole of Molo District and depicting the Visayan Warty Pig, Tribu Bulawanon Sang Molo represents the historic district of Molo and brings to life the rich cultural heritage of one of Iloilo City’s most iconic districts. Molo’s pride shines through every beat, step, and story on the Dinagyang scene.
Contingent 2: TRIBU TAGA-BARYO

From Barangay Bo. Obrero and depicting the Panay Monitor Lizard, Tribu Taga-Baryo carries the heart of the community and represents Barangay Bo. Obrero in the district of Lapuz.. Their performance reflects the authentic participation of the people – showing that Dinagyang is a celebration of community.
Contingent 3: TRIBU PAN-AY

Represented by Fort San Pedro National High School, Tribu Pan-ay depicts the Gigantes Limestone Frog. Rooted in the rich history of Panay island and the arrival of Spanish settlements under Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, Tribu Pan-ay stands as a powerful symbol of Iloilo’s historical legacy.
Contingent 4: TRIBU PAGHIDAET

From La Paz National High School, depicting the Philippine Long-tailed Macaque, Tribu Paghidaet has become one of Dinagyang’s more known and award-winning tribes in the history of the festival. Since joining the competition in 1999 and representing the district of La Paz, their performances embody peace, strength, and devotion. Recently, they proudly carried the Dinagyang spirit to Osaka, Japan and New Zealand, marking major international launches for Iloilo’s Dinagyang 2026.
Contingent 5: TRIBU ILAYANHON

Represented by the Graciano Lopez Jaena Elementary School and depicting the Visayan Hornbill, Tribu Ilayanhon brings something new to this year’s Dinagyang. Being the only Elementary School to represent a tribe, Tribu Ilayanhon brings youthful energy and fresh perspectives to the competition. Named after Iloilo-born hero Graciano Lopez-Jaena, the tribe proudly carries forward his legacy of patriotism and excellence.
Contingent 6: TRIBU SALOGNON

From Jaro National High School, depicting the Visayan Leopard Cat, Tribu Salognon hails from the famous Jaro District of Iloilo City. The Tribe draws inspiration from the district’s rich cultural heritage that reflects its storied past. Their performances honor Jaro’s history while celebrating the enduring spirit of the Ilonggo people.
Contingent 7: TRIBU ILONGANON

Represented by Jalandoni Memorial National High School, depicting the Visayan Spotted Deer – The tribe’s name traces its roots from the word “irong-irong,” representing the early settlers along the Batiano River. It reflects the identity, resilience, and pride of the Ilonggo people through their creative headdress and lively movements.

As religious and grand as it can be, Dinagyang Festival never fails to amaze me. From heartfelt devotion to lively street parties close to a Mardi Gras, Iloilo will always have a special place in my memory. Here’s to more Dinagyang celebrations in the future! Hala Bira!
