My Sinulog 2024 Experience
Since it is my first time experiencing the Sinulog Festival, I had high expectations about Sinulog 2024 as it is one of the most popular religious festivals in the Philippines – right at the heart of the birth of Christianity in the Philippines – the Province of Cebu.

With the theme “Sinulog sa Sugbo Philippines 2024,” Sinulog aims to bring the “Sinulog Experience” to the whole Philippines. Being one of the biggest island provinces in the country, Cebu is one of the main gateways to the Visayas Islands.
This year’s Sinulog Festival is its 44th edition and is highlighted by the Grand Sinulog Parade every third Sunday of the month of January. Here are some of the highlights of the 44th Sinulog Grand Parade:
If you get to experience the Sinulog Festival first hand, you will witness the people’s devotion to the Santo Niño, the overflow of passion and the Christianity is really embedded in every Cebuano. I saw that every bit and corner of Cebu venerates the child Jesus and it is really a part of every household. It is just heartwarming to see.
Sinulog sa Sugbo Philippines 2024
Coinciding with the 459th Fiesta Señor is the staging of 44th Sinulog Festival 2024 in the province of Cebu. Its main highlight and celebration happened this 21 January 2024 at the South Road Properties.
There are also exciting side events during the Sinulog 2024 Festival such as the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan, Sinulog sa Barangay, Sinulog Dance Crew Contest, and the Sinulog TikTok Dance Challenge.
And Sinulog 2024 will not be Sinulog if it is not capped off with a grand fireworks display to culminate the month-long celebration of one of the premier festivals in the Philippines. And to continue the celebrations, street parties in and around Metro Cebu have made my Sinulog experience even sweeter!
I just feel so amazed and in awe witnessing the Sinulog Festival for the first time. It is one goal ticked off my 2024 travel bucket list and I will surely come back for Sinulog 2025! The people of Cebu’s devotion to the Sto. Niño is unwavering and the faith is just overwhelming! Here’s to visiting and experiencing more Philippine festivals! Sinulog comes from the Cebuano adverb “sulog,” which means “like water current movement” – describing the forward-backward dance movements. The Sinulog Festival is held annually during the month of January in honor of the feast day of the Child Jesus, a.k.a. Sto. Niño.
