Aliwan Fiesta: The Grand Festival of Champions
Aliwan Fiesta is one of the most sought-after events in Manila sponsored by the Manila Broadcasting Company. Every year, Aliwan draws approximately around 5,000 performers from all over the Philippines to let them showcase the festival in select provinces.
This 2017, Aliwan Fiesta also drew thousands of spectators as the festivities closed last 22 April 2017 at Aliw Theater, CCP Complex, Pasay City.

In this 3-day Mardi Gras in Manila, you will get a taste of what to experience when in the Philippines. Almost all of the provinces participated in the Aliwan Fiesta Bazaar which showcased every province’s local (and some indigenous) products.

Aliwan 2017 Results
To cap the three-day event, the Grand Street Parade and Grand Float Parade started in Quirino Grandstand in Manila and the different contingents from all over the Philippines paraded their way to Roxas Boulevard to their final staging area in Aliw Theater in Pasay.

What an amazing festival, it makes me think of Rio, with all those beautiful carts in the parade. I love colorful festivals and if I will ever go to Manila I will make sure to chose the dates so that they include the Aliwan festival as well. It looks like the entire city is celebrating.

Yup! The entire city was literally celebrating! Though Rio carnival is much grander, I can say Aliwan will be better in the coming years!

The event looks like a whole lot entertainment indeed, giving justice to its name. The costumes of the beauty queens are very creative and impressive. I can imagine that oohs and ahhs from the crowd. I have never attended this event; this is my first time I’ve heard about it actually. Maybe next year I can go ahead and join, just as spectator though haha.. Would love to see the float parade.

The Aliwan fiesta seems so colourful and spectacular. It seems to have a carnival kind of atmosphere. I am sure that the air is surcharged with thrill and excitement during the period of the festival. Everyone must surely have a rocking time. Hope to visit someday.
